We love TV. And we love books. So we thought someone should combine the two. That’s why Idiot Box Books is publishing great stories based on iconic tv shows from the past 60 years.
In the traditional publishing world, TV tie in crossovers are rare. Especially for shows that aren’t currently airing new episodes.
That’s because of the numbers. Commissioning editors are looking for titles which sell tens of thousands of copies, which means unless a show is attracting millions of viewers, it’s unlikely to shift enough books to satisfy a traditional publisher.
But that leaves hundreds of television shows whose stories can’t be told in print. Programmes with their own small (but dedicated) fan base that are creatively ripe for a comeback, albeit on the bookshelves instead of onscreen.
That’s where Idiot Box Books comes in. We use crowdfunding to reach out to fan communities and ask them to support our projects. It’s an exciting publishing model first pioneered by popular Victorian writers and offers readers a chance to actively contribute towards the goal of seeing their dream projects in print. You simply need to pledge to support the book before it’s been published and we’ll do the rest. Together, we can publish books that would otherwise never make it to the bookshelves.
We’re launching our first titles in Summer 2025. Sign up for our newsletter below to be the first to hear about our debut titles. We hope we can count on your support.
Thank you.
